Well done to the Ardscoil Rís Under 19 Hurling team who won against Coláiste Choilm of Tullamore in their third match of the Leinster A league on the Gerry O’Brien pitch yesterday.
Coláiste Choilm started strong with two goals, leaving Ardscoil trailing 2-2 to 0-3 after ten minutes. Despite this, the team stayed confident and goals from Ciarán Stacey and Joe Kavanagh put Ardscoil back into the lead. Our team was now fully in its stride and at half time the score stood at 2-11 to 2-7.
The game continued to be an entertaining one, with the Offaly side scoring three more goals in the second half. However, Ardscoil were consistent, and several points as well as another goal from Ciarán Stacey kept the game tight.
In the final ten minutes, Coláiste Choilm moved ahead with a goal from a free. It looked as if the game might be lost until Ciarán Stacey carried the ball to the edge of the box and stuck it in the top corner to complete his hat-trick and put Ardscoil a point up with four minutes left. One more point for Ardscoil Rís and the game was over, with the final score being 4-17 to 5-12.
Congratulations to the team on a great performance and good luck to them in their upcoming championship matches.
