U19 Hurlers through to Leinster Quarter Final – Pics

Well done to the Under 19 Hurling Team who are through to the next round of the Leinster Championship after beating St. Benildus on Thursday with a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-10.

The game started slowly, with the wind making scoring difficult for both sides, leaving the score at 4 points to 2 in Ardscoil’s favour after 15 minutes. Benildus were looking strong, and by half time they led 0-6 to 0-5. This was with a crossfield wind at their back however, and once the teams switched around Ardscoil were able to reply with a flurry of points, giving themselves a strong lead.

The opposition were not going to give up despite this, and a goal and a point in quick succession put the teams back level. Our team struck back quickly after this, with C. Stacey scoring a crucial goal to widen the lead again. The team finished the game strongly by scoring several points before C. Cummins capped off the game by finishing a late chance for a goal.

This left the final scoreline as a comfortable six point win.

We wish the best of luck to the team as they move on to play Colaiste Naomh Chormac, Co. Offaly next week.
