ASR U17s and 1st Year Footballers Win Friendlies Against St. Aidans- Pics

Ardscoil Rís Friendly Football Match Reports Against St. Aidan’s

Under 17s Footballers played on Friday 6th January.

Ardscoil Rís Under 17s football took on St.Aidans on the Gerry O’Brien pitch last Friday. This U17s football match started with St. Aidans opened the scores with a point before Ardscoil Rís put their first score in with a goal from O. Fennelly.

Ardscoil took the lead of the match early on as A. Matthews put two goals in, once Ardscoil established their lead they remained on top for the rest of the game with the first half coming to a close at a score line of 5-10 to 0-7.

Ardscoil Rís remained dominant in the second half with Andrew Matthews bagging his third goal to complete his hat trick.

The game ended with a strong Ardscoil win of 7-16 to 0-14.

1st Year Footballers played on Wednesday 11th January (played in thirds).

St. Aidans started strong with 3 points in quick succession but Ardscoil Rís replied quickly with 2 goals and 2 points. They largely dominated the first third.

First third score Ardscoil 3-3 Aidans 1-4

St. Aidans got the first score of the second third but once again Ardscoil Rís had a quick reply scoring 3 points in a row.

Second third score Ardscoil 5-6 Aidans 1-5

Once again St. Aidans started strongly, scoring 2 points in quick succession. Ardscoil Rís slowly started to gain control, scoring 2 goals and a point in a matter of minutes.

Congratulations to all involved, best player for Ardscoil was G. Spring.
