Congratulations to 1st year Footballers who won their Final

Congratulations to the 1st year Football team who won the Tom Quinlan Cup in their final yesterday against
St. Colmcille’s Community School with a scoreline of 4.22 to 4.12. Congratulations to their mentors Mr. Colgan and Mr. Geoghan. Thanks to all of the supporters who came to the match.

Another final for Ardscoil Ris.This time, the spotlight is turned to the first year team, as they take on St. Colmcille’s Community School in the First Year Gaelic Football Final. Ardscoil Ris started off strong with a point from Mark Dempsey. After a couple of scores from Ardscoil and two back to back points from Mark Dempsey, Aaron Graham smashes the ball into the bottom corner of the goal to make it 1-6 to 0-1. 

 

 With the scores at 1-7 to 0-3, James Stephens got the ball at the back post and does what any good forward would do, puts it in the back of the net.

 

St. Colmcille’s pulled it back after half time, leveling the scores at 3-9 to 3-9. As the game went on, Ardscoil would end up having to work their way back into the game, but eventually they leveled it. This made the score 3-13 to 4-10 with the later stages of the game yet to come. Gavin Doole scored a beautiful point, but the opposition replied back with a point 

 

The game ended with a draw, which left us with extra time. The first score of extra time went to Ardscoil, courtesy of Richie Hession. By the end of the first half of extra time, Ardscoil had taken a 4 point lead. Inside 1 minute of the second half of extra time, Ardscoil scored 1-1 to make them 8 clear, with the goal from Aaron O’Connor and the point from Mark Dempsey. Ardscoil held on with determination to take the victory and secured the trophy with the final score being 4-22 to 4-12.
