The Feeder Schools lists were published in The Irish Times and in the Irish Independent today.  The information published aims to provide a snapshot of information about how many students from each school in the Republic of Ireland go on to various third-level colleges in Ireland.

Ardscoil Rís, Dublin is the top non-fee paying all-boys school in the country.

On Thursday 28th November we are running a Sponsored Soccer Blitz in aid of Ardscoil Rís School Activities.  We currently don’t charge students anything for school activities or buses etc. and we would like to keep it that way so we need your help to support our various school activities.

The idea of the soccer blitz in First, Second and Third Year is that there will be approximately 12 teams in each year group and each team will play against each other on the day. Anyone who doesn’t want to play can come along and support teams in their class. Each student who wants to play must take a sponsorship card.  The idea is that they must get people to sponsor them.  We hope that each student who plays might raise a minimum of €20.  All Sponsorship cards and money must be returned on or before Thursday 28th November.

Some Transition Year students are also interested in taking part and their tournament will begin during last class on Thursday and continue until around 4.30pm

Students who are taking part don’t wear their school uniform to school on the day.

1st, 2nd and 4th year students also enjoyed Maths Quizzes throughout the week and all students were invited to take part in Daily Maths Puzzles. 

Well done to all who took part in Maths Week 2024.

Just a reminder that:

·         The 2nd year Parent-Teacher meeting takes place on Monday 21st October 4.15pm – 6.45pm

·         The school is closed to all students on Tuesday 22nd October because of mandatory staff training.

·         Mid-term break takes place Monday 28th October – Friday 1st November inclusive. 

The Lourdes evening and the soccer blitz have been postponed until after mid-term break.  More details to follow.

The first meeting and AGM of the Parents’ Council will take place on Tuesday 15th October at 7.30pm.  This is a great opportunity to meet other parents and help support the school.  If you would like a topic considered for the agenda, please let us know by emailing us at parentscouncil@ardscoilris.com before Friday 11th October.

For students who don’t bring in their own lunch to school, from Thursday 19th September, food by Foodvillage.ie will be available in the school for students to pre order and purchase.

All students attended a presentation today from Food Village where they received a menu and most importantly a keycard and it was explained how the process works.

If a student wishes to pre-order food for any school day (except Fridays), they can do so through the Food Village App.

The menu the boys received today, contains simple instructions on how to download the app and set up a student account. Students should use their school emails when setting up their accounts. Parents will separately need to download the app and link their students account to theirs if they wish to add money to their sons account. Both parents and students can order food via the app.

If your son has pre ordered his lunch, he will scan his keycard at the collection point at lunchtime and get his food.  

If they lose their keycard they will need to pay for a replacement and will have to wait till the end of any queue to identify their order. 

Orders for hot food must be placed at least 30 hours beforehand. 

There is a limited menu for purchasing food on demand i.e. same day ordering/collection so it is recommended to order in advance. 

We hope, particularly during the winter months, the availability of hot food to students will be of enormous benefit to them. 

Absent Students

If any student was absent today, they can collect their menu and keycard from Mr O’Callaghan when they are next in. 

Just a reminder that First and Second Year students are not permitted to leave the school at lunchtime, except for those who live locally and have permission to go home.  Students in other year groups are permitted to leave, bring in their lunch or pre order their lunch through the App.
