Ardscoil Ris will play St. Fintans High School in the Junior (under 16.5) hurling final tomorrow (March 8th). The game takes place in Parnell Park at 1.30pm. All support would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a summary of the Junior Hurlers journey so far this year as written by Cillian Cummins, TY.
The U16.5 hurlers began their season with a dominant display against an unorganized St. Benildus team on the new school pitch. The Rís ran away with the game from the very first whistle and ended the game with the first clean sheet of the 2021/22 campaign. The game ended 3-16 to 0-1.
Next up was St. Fintans of Sutton in the second game of the group at home on the school pitch. The game was thrilling to watch as it was end to end hurling for the full 60 minutes. It took the Rís until after the first water break to get into groove as they managed to get two goals in quick succession. Ardscoil went into half-time with a 4 point gap on the opposition. The game went right down to the wire as a last minute goal by Ciarán Doolan secured the two points for the home side to stay top of the group.
The final game of the group was against our local rivals away from home in St. Aidans. Right from the get go Ardscoil once again dominated the play. The Rís kept the scoreboard ticking through-out the game and sent the home team packing.
This win ensured Ardscoil the number one spot in the group and a spot in the final on the 8th of March where they will once again face St. Fintans which is set out to be a cracking game of hurling.
