Well done to our Under 17 footballers on their victory over Coláiste Eoin in their final group game yesterday at home on the Gerry O’Brien pitch. It was a comfortable win with the score being 7-21 to 1-7.
It was a cold Tuesday afternoon, but that didn’t affect any of our players as they were quick to take the lead. Ardscoil kept the pressure going throughout the first half scoring three goals and holding Coláiste Eoin to just 1 point in the first 20 minutes. The defence was consistent throughout the rest of the first half and was one of the many reasons Ardscoil were able to score so much. The passing play between players was amazing and the scores kept coming. At the end of the first half the score was 4-12 to 0-3 in Ardscoil’s favour.
The second half wasn’t much different from the first with Ardscoil dominating throughout the majority of the half. There were periods where Coláiste Eoin looked threatening, but not threatening enough as Ardscoil sailed to a comfortable victory over them.
The final score was 7-21 to 1-7.
It was a great team display with H. Curley leading the scoring with 2 goals and 7 points scored, with one of his goals being arguably the best goal of the game with a lovely dinked finish over the Coláiste Eoin keeper. Another standout player was C. McAweeney who helped provide several scores and assists.
Congratulations to the team on the victory and we wish them the best of luck in their next game, next week.
