The First Year Welcome Mass took place yesterday evening at 7.30pm in the PE Hall.
As always, the First Year Mass is a special event in the school calendar, however, this years Mass was made extra special as Bishop Fintan Gavin, Bishop of Cork and Ross, along with his brother Fr. Morgan Gavin and Marino parish priest Fr. Christian celebrated the Mass.
Bishop Fintan Gavin graduated from Ardscoil Rís in 1983 and his brother Fr. Morgan Gavin graduated in 2001. It was a great honour to have them back in the school to help welcome our First Year students and their parents/guardians.
The students were involved in the Mass through singing, playing music, reading prayers and bringing up gifts. The students behaved most respectfully.
Thank you to the Parents Council, who provided refreshments afterwards. A special thanks to the teachers in the Religion and Music departments for all of the preparations and work they did for the Mass.
